Priory Church
The Priory Church, Christchurch, Dorset.
Christchurch Priory Church is in the heart of this delightful town. Situated at the end of the main high street, this magnificent structure can be seen from miles around. Although there is no admission fee to access the church, donations are welcomed to assist with the ongoing maintenance. On arrival you will be greeted and offered a leaflet explaining the history of the church.
The Miraculous Beam.
Have you seen the Miraculous Beam? This is probably the most famous feature of the Priory Church. The beam, which can be seen high up in the archway has a fascinating and amazing story which will have you puzzled and walking away with a smile. The story also reveals how the town changed its name from Twynham to Christchurch.
The Priory Church has a small gift shop situated just outside the church, ideal for purchasing a souvenir or two. Also within the grounds are the Bookstall and St Michaels Loft Museum.
