Walks in Stanpit Nature Reserve
Where to walk and what to do in Stanpit Marsh Nature Reserve.
Stanpit Nature Reserve is a few minutes drive from Christchurch in Dorset. A place of natural beauty, it's well worth visiting for a couple of hours to escape all the holiday makers. Start your walk around at the Recreation Ground and keep left. You will come across a stye and a path which will take you to the reserve.
As you continue through the marsh you will encounter wild horses, beautifully formed water routes and stunning views. Follow the track as far as you can and you will arrive at a body of water that over looks Hengistbury Head. If you walk to your right along the beach you will come across a wooden panel path that leads you back to the Recreation Ground.
An alternative very pretty walk is available when walking on the wooden panel path. Keep an eye out on the left for a stye that leads you into the reeds. From here you can walk across a narrow wooden pathway through the marsh and to the edge of the Harbour. From here, take the gate out of the reserve and walk left to the Civic Offices. Once you have reached the main road you take the short walk to Christchurch Town, the complete walk will take approximately 45 minutes.
